Learning Area: Literacy - Writing
Learning Observed
Today I invited the learners to write a story about they had been in the past. We modelled writing “I went to ...” and we found these words on the alphabet card, and said which colour box the words were in. We then talked about finding the initial letter of the action we liked doing by writing down the letter sounds we can hear, using the alphabet cards. Maya sounded out some of the main letter sounds she could hear. Maya wrote “I went ot RNWSD” - “I went to Rainbowsend”.
Evidence of learning
Maya was able to record the main letter sounds she could hear in Rainbowsend. Good sounding out Maya.
Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Maya is developing her Capabilities in her writing. She was able to work by herself to sound out the main letter sounds she could hear in the unfamiliar word (Managing Self). Maya is starting to form her letters correctly and listen to the sounds they make when recording them (Using language, symbols and text). She was able to Think of her own story and write it.
